(Sept 6th 2013) One of my closest friends is expecting her second child in November so I have decided to put my new yarn, Di Lusso Baby to use. I am going to make a fairly simple jumper using 4 of the colours in stripe rotation as we don’t know if she is having a boy or a girl so it needs to work for either.

– I’m off… I think it works really well, although is much more fiddley than I remembered working with so many balls of yarn. I think that’s perhaps because the last time I did it I didn’t have a 2 year old and a puppy in competition for both my time and something to play with! On more than one occasion I have put it down to nip to the loo, or into the kitchen and before I know it the puppy is charging round the kitchen with one of the balls in her mouth and Lucas chasing her! I am now resigned to the fact that this can only be done once said toddler is in bed and puppy is exhausted and asleep in front of the fire!
(Sept 20) Hurray – the back is now finished. I’m really pleased with how this pattern is working. The colours are great together. I’m making up the pattern as I go, but I’ve made so many of these jumpers with a variety of yarn that I am confident it will fit. Having said this, it now looks as though she is going to deliver early and her baby is likely to be very small, so I think he/she probably wont be able to wear this for a few months…
(October 15) OK – I know it’s been a month, but I’ve been on holiday and this is not the sort of project you can do on the go, sitting by the pool, on the beach etc so I haven’t done much… However, my friend has had her baby – a little boy, but he is very small so they don’t need the jumper right away. Still – it’s spurred me on to get it finished. (October 20) Hurray – knitting completed. Now I just need to block…
And here it is – the finished jumper… Hopefully she will love it. It is softer than I had hoped for… <3
