not quite sure how I missed this awesome brand, particularly as it comes from one of my distributors but I had a visit from their rep yesterday and fell in LOVE (not with him in case you were wondering – I am happily married thank you very much!).
He told me about the Mirasol project which supports local communities and education projects throughout Peru through the sale of the Mirasol Yarn Collection – which is for me, reason enough to stock their beautiful yarns, but they also happen to be truly gorgeous as well! I know that many of my customer are fledgling yarnaholics, so to be able to feel good about your addiction and know that your money is going to such a worthwhile cause can help ease the guilt of stashing so much loveliness 😉
Mirasol has several yarns that I will be adding to my site over the coming months (so many tasks so little time), but I had to start with Miski – a 100% baby llama yarn that comes in around 30 colours. My reasons for choosing this particular yarn is that it is UNBELIEVABLY SOFT! I’m not sure what I was expecting, but for some reason I thought llama would be slightly scratchy but it is even softer than alpaca – and much less ‘hairy’. This is because the staple fibres on a llama are much longer than alpaca fibres and therefore when spun together they make a more cohesive thread. I am selling this yarn for £6.50 per 50g, which is cheaper than almost everywhere (RRP £6.95).
I have also added Hachito – a brand new sock yarn made from 80% Merino and 20% Polyamide which gives it strength and durability. It comes in 12 bright and colourful colourways and is just such fun I had to have some. Also, I think we all need a bit of cheering up and these bright colours look like a field of tulips – which those of us who still have gardens will hopefully see soon… I’m selling it for £7.50 per 50g (RRP £7.95).
