Description
Semi-solid single ply yarn, made with 70% extra fine merino and 30% mulberry silk it creates a lovely drapey fabric that is light and warm, and has a silky sheen to it. It is equivalent to a 4ply sock weight yarn. I have created these semi-solid colours specifically for the Slow Exposure Shawl kit. The kit requires two of these, and as batch/dyelot is important so if you purchase 2 then I will ensure they are from the same dyelot, and if not I will dye them especially. I have a selection of variegated colourways here.
A couple of things to bear in mind about hand dyed yarn:
- No two skeins are ever the same, even if they have been dyed in the same pot. I recommend you knit with two skeins and alternate every other row for consistency on larger projects. (Probably not necessary with this yarn and pattern combination)
- Whilst every effort has been taken to ensure colour-fastness, there is a chance that some residual dye may remain (this is normal – think jeans…) I suggest hand washing all garments in cool water prior to being worn and keep bright colours separate.
