Limited edition pure mulberry silk chunky yarn
I only have a few kg of this yarn and as far as I know, my supplier is not going to make it again… So, I have dyed up 5 pairs of tonal colours. I have a few left undyed as I thought I would wait and see which colours are most popular. The lovely Michelle from The Loveliest Yarn Company has given me her Two Chunky Hats pattern to include with them. I am also knitting up my Single Stripe Cowl so I will share pictures of that as soon as I’ve finished…
A few things to bear in mind when using hand dyed yarn:
- No two skeins are ever the same, even if they have been dyed in the same pot. If consistency is important and/or to prevent colour pooling I strongly recommend you knit with two skeins and alternate every other row, particularly on larger projects. If you only have one skein, then you can use both ends at once.
- Whilst every effort has been taken to ensure colour-fastness, there is a chance that some residual dye may remain (this is normal – think jeans…) I suggest hand washing all garments in cool water prior to being worn and keep bright colours separate. I also advise against soaking your finished item as the colours can bleed.
- It is not possible to work directly from a skein/hank. It must be wound into a ball before use, or will get into a terrible tangle. For more information on how to do this there are hundreds of videos on YouTube. Alternatively for a small fee I can do it for you here.
