Queen Silk Lace

Pure silk lace weight yarn in a choice of variegated colour ways, hand dyed by me.

Some of these yarns are reduced to £18 because they may contain 3 or 4 knots. They do not all but but I have found that some of do, I felt it better to reduce the price than for you to be unhappy with your yarn.

Pure mulberry silk lace weight yarn.

Made from mulberry silk, this pure silk lace weight yarn is fine and delicate with a beautiful sheen and drape. Queen Silk Lace is a 3 ply yarn which has been hand-dyed in a variety of colour mixes and solid colours exclusive to Orchidean Yarns. It can be used for a multitude of projects and at 500m per skein, one is usually enough for a small shawl.

Our silk manufacturers are a small family business that have been producing Indian silk for more than 50 years.

This yarn is extremely popular and no two dye lots are ever the same. I will try to keep the images on the site current, but your order may differ slightly from the images shown.

A couple of things to bear in mind about hand dyed yarn:

  1. No two skeins are ever the same, even if they have been dyed in the same pot. I recommend you knit with two skeins and alternate every other row for consistency on larger projects.
  2. Whilst every effort has been taken to ensure colour-fastness, there is a chance that some residual dye may remain (this is normal – think jeans…) I suggest hand washing all garments in cool water prior to being worn and keep bright colours separate.
