When I first started dyeing yarn almost 3 years ago, the hardest part for me was coming up with interesting names for them all… Then it came to me – I would name them all after my other big passion in life – music. I am never not listening to music, be it on the radio, Mixcloud or one of the 1000+ albums I have collected throughout my life (although now actually mostly listen to on Spotify 😱). I listen to Radio 2, which I think is a nostalgia thing because a) it has loads of DJ’s that were on Radio 1 when I was a kid, and b) my father always listened to it, and I genuinely think they haven’t changed the jingles in 40 years!! It also gave me the idea, because I regularly try and think what would be the Tracks of My Years, which obviously became “Tracks of My Yarns…”

Nearly all of my colourways are named after songs or pieces of music that I love, although there are a few in there that just had to be called what they are called… My favourite band of all time has to be Pink Floyd, and my favourite album Dark Side Of The Moon. I had my first date with my husband at the Roger Water’s performance of the album in Hyde Park in 2006 and subsequently BOTH my babies were born to it (I had planned c-sections and my midwife had told me we could bring in our own music!) There’s also lots of David Bowie, Radiohead, Queen, Fleetwood Mac, and even some from my favourite childhood film Grease! It has become so much fun for me and I often decide on what to name my yarns depending on what I was listening to at the time of dyeing them!

I am always open to suggestions so if you have a particularly favourite, just let me know…
